"Nectarines", 5"x7", Oil on Board
I spotted these nectarines at the grocery store and instantly fell in love with the colors. For some reason I've been attracted to orange, reds and yellows lately. I would like to do some more work with fruit compositions because the possibilities are really endless. Last weekend I also picked up some old, cobalt and amber colored bottles and hope to incorporate those into future paintings as well.

Strong piece Jean! Great palette and love the folds in the cloth!
Thanks Todd! I'm happy with how the fruit turned out but I struggled with the fabric. I suppose the challenge is always good though. You've really been doing some great work lately! I bet going back to school will probably cut in on your studio time.
I can't get over how much progress you've done in the past year. Beautifully textured colors....NICE!!!!
Hi Alvin,
I haven't heard from you in awhile. Were you taking a break? Thanks for your support. I've really tried so hard to learn how to paint but I really feel like there's just so much more to learn. Most of the time I end up frustrated and unhappy with my results. Anyways, so good to hear from you, happy painting!
Looks like you could reach out and pick them up. Wonderful job on the fabric too.
OOOOh Jean - these are just beautiful! That fabric that you picked up is just so expertly done - and the color in the fruit is amazing -this has that great WOW factor that we all hope for in a painting. Really, really wonderful! I will have to go back to doing fruit - this painting is strong incentive! Congratulations.
Hi Barbara,
Thanks for stopping by! I haven't painted a lot of fruit but I may paint more in the future because I've enjoyed the vibrant colors.
Hi Joanne,
I'm happy with the fruit but I'm not crazy about my fabric. The fabric was a real challenge to paint and I probably need to paint more folds etc...in the future if I'm ever going to be comfortable with it. If you start painting fruit again, try the nectarines they have some really beautiful color variations.
I love these! They are so beautiful and can taste and smell them!
Thanks Theresa!
I appreciate your support, this isn't my favorite painting so I'm surprised that it's gotten so much praise. Who knows maybe I'm too critical.
Beautiful nectarines. I want to eat them. The cloth looks lovely. I also love your candy, your Chinese food box and your olives. I definitely think you could easily be a daily painter. I don't know if I could ever do that but I would like to someday. I could possibly become a "weekly" painter.
Anita,
Thanks for stopping by! I really appreciate your kind words about my work. I don't think I could be a daily painter because I'm too meticulous. You have a nice painting style that could really be enhanced by weekly painting. You could start out with a smaller size and see how it goes. Let me know if you try it!
spectacular!
Hi Todd,
It's so good to hear from you! I'm glad you like my fruit. I've been so busy painting, how about you? Happy painting and thanks for stopping by.
These juicy nectrines are like you can just pick them up and eat them. Love the folds of fabric. Great work.
Hi India,
It's good to here from you and I'm glad you liked my nectarines. Good luck with your daily paintings.
Jean you are a first rate artist and I really enjoy your blog.
Austin,
Thanks for the visit and your support! I'm so glad you emailed me back...I feel better!
Unbelievable!!
So absolutely real looking!!
Marian,
Thanks for stopping by, I almost missed your comment.
I had to check out your art, too curious not to. I am in love with this nectarine one because it's so realistic. I also love the one with 4 bottles. Heck, I love them all! It's the really realistic ones that grab me. They look like photographs.
Keep up the good work!
