Marbles Painting

"Marbles", 6"x 6", Oil on Board
I finally got the chance to finish this painting today but regret not being able to get more paintings completed this month. I definitely lost time fiddling with the other painting for a week and a half and also feel like the class I've been taking is having an impact on my productivity as well. Unfortunately, the next two weeks probably won't be any better because I will be studying for a final exam. I'm going to keep this post short so let me know what you think of this one. I'm off to study!

Beautiful luminosity in your marbles Jean. That is the magic with marbles, they filter light as if they have their own power source. Bonne chance with your exam. Thanks for visiting!

Hi Alvin,
Thanks...that beautiful luminosity took a little time, LOL. I actually think marbles make a wonderful subject to paint. I actually got interested in them when I was painting the cobalt bottle with the amber colored marble. Since these marbles are "clear" I would eventually like to paint some with different colors/patterns like the cat eyes ect...Take care and I love your recent work.

Beautiful Jean. It feels like this delicate constellation stopped its dance only to show that elegant light projection. Subtle colors and well painted.
I wish you plenty of peaceful moment
and energy to go through your studies!
Take care,
-Pierre

Pierre,
Thank you! When I started painting this, I really wasn't going for subtle but it kind of ended up that way. One thing I wanted to change in this piece was the lighting. A lot of my paintings either have a really light background or really dark so I was going for something in between. I threw the marbles down on a white board with very little light and this is what I ended up with.

Hi Jean,
I love the marbles - they kind of glow and are beautifully transparent! Best wishes for your exam. Just think, when it is all over, you have the holidays to look forward to. Thanks for playing the tag game - you are a very unique and unusual woman... and a good friend. I promise I won't tag you again until next year. :-) hehehe

Hi Joanne,
Thanks for looking! I hope I'm unique and unusual in a good way, lol. I hope you've been doing some painting lately...maybe more oils?

You have really captured what I love about marbles - the reflected light and shadows. For me, that is a huge part of the joy in painting them. I am always surprised by what I see. Great job!

Hi Marilyn,
Thank you! Yes, that's what attracted me to the marbles as well. Thanks for visiting!
