"Cobalt Bottle and Marble", 6"x6", Oil on Board
I was happy to finish this painting just a few hours ago. Again, I painted my cobalt bottle and threw in an amber color marble. The thing I really like about this piece are the dramatic shadows. I'm also happy with how my marble turned out but wish I had positioned it a little differently because it almost lines up with the horizontal of the back wall, it's too late now. Let me know what you think!

Quiet and peaceful. I like the square format for this beautiful piece and the light in the shadows.

Hi Pierre,
Have you been painting? I can't wait to see your next piece. I'm happy with how this turned out and I'm satisfied with the dramatic shadows and their subtle changes in color. My marble placement was a little off, oh well, I guess I need to pay attention more. Yes, I guess this piece is kind of quiet and peaceful which is probably kind of surprising if you only knew what kind of music I listen to when I paint.
Your work is delightful! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Marilyn,
Thanks for taking the time to look at my work, it's greatly appreciated.
I love the way you paint glass. Wonderfully rendered, beautiful color. thanks.
Kelley,
Thanks for taking the time to view my work, it means a lot. I basically like painting glass or anything reflective because I find it's more challenging. Take care!
Jean, very nice. I think it's your attention to the subtle details that really make this one!
Hi Todd,

Nita,
Thanks for looking at my work. It's always nice to hear from a fellow pastellist and Mainer. Take care.
After getting a peek preview from your previous post it's so nice to see the finished piece. I love the marble and the cast shadow too; it really has a translucent quality to it. Very Nice Work!
Hi Jean!
Well, your work just keeps getting better! I really enjoy how you have defined the thickness of each object with the depth of color in the shadows. The marble is so believable, and has such a warm puddle of color in the cast shadow, while the bottle has beautiful tones in it, and very subtle shadows. The other thing that strikes me about this painting that is so well done, Jean, is the reflection of the bottle in the surface it sits on... wow! You have done an amazing job. When I grow up as an oil painter, I want to be just like you! :-)
Wow!...striking as usual. That blue is so rich, beautiful painting Jean. Good for you. I hope your show goes well.
Best,
Todd
D. Thanks for looking at my work. It's good to hear from you again?
Joanne,
It's good to hear from you. How is you oil painting coming along? I'm glad you like the painting. The reflections and shadows were certainly a challenge in this piece but I try to do the very best I can along with careful observation. Take care and stay warm.
Hi Todd B.
It's good to hear from you and I really enjoyed your last piece.
This is lovely, Jean.
Don,
Thanks so much...it's good of you to stop by and look. Take care.
I think it's wonderful and I don't mind the marble placement, either. What music do you listen to when you paint?
Mary,
I'm glad you like the painting. I actually listen to a wide range of music from New Age, Classical (Rachmaninoff - Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini is my favorite, Chopin and Debussy). On the flip side, I also listen to a lot of classic rock, alternative rock etc... The complete opposite of the peaceful paintings I create. Glad you stopped by.
Oh god its an amazing blog..
just loved it a lot..
cheer..
