Another Candy Painting

"Jr. Mints", 6"x6", Oil on Panel
I finished this little candy painting about an hour ago. This is probably about the third still life painting I've done of candy, but I have fun painting them and they are kind of whimsical. The most challenging part of these kind of paintings are the package designs and hand painting the lettering.

I got a call from the owner of the Courthouse Gallery in Ellsworth, Maine which is near Bar Harbor for those of you who do not live in Maine. The owner of the gallery is interested in showing some of my work at her gallery this summer. She requested to see more images of my pastel landscapes which I sent out to her on Monday. I'll give it a week and then I'll follow-up with a phone call to find out which pieces she is interested in. My biggest problem with this whole process was that all of my Jpegs were not at a reduced size so I ended up having to make my image files smaller. I don't know how my image files are ending up so large to begin with. I'm weak in the technology area!

Hi Jean,

It appears to me that you are leaping ahead in your painting technique in oils by leaps and bounds. This painting is another beauty! I can see how the lettering would be very difficult - but it looks fabulous. I love the detail with the little tear in the packaging. Once again, I think you have done a wonderful painting! Happy Spring on the 21st! :-)

Hi Joanne,
Thanks so much, yes I get kind of frustrated when it comes lettering. I'm not sure what I'm going to paint next. I bought an orchid at Home Depot today and I'm thinking about painting it because it's just beautiful. Not sure though!! What are you working on now?

Hi Again Jean,

Thank you SO MUCH for the honor of offering a link from your website to mine. I accept with deep gratitude. I respect your art so much - and am truly humbled by your generosity.

Right now, I have 4 paintings on the go. One is of Pink Lady apples - almost done, another of oranges on a blue plate, a third of a Mexican lady selling flowers, and a 4th of a gooseberry bush against a rock wall of sandstones. Of course, one never knows if any of them will survive to see a frame, or end up in the fireplace. :-) Watercolor is a little tricky that way. I just glanced over at my easel, and realized I have a 30 x 30 acrylic of a couple of sunflowers that are also started. So, I am keeping inspired because there is always one or the other that is calling for me to come and paint some more. Usually I don't have this many on the go, but I am thinking of approaching some galleries for representation... any tips?
Thanks again, Jean. I am so honored ...
