More Candy

"Plain M & M's II, 6"x6", Oil on Board
I finished painting this a couple of hours ago and decided to go ahead and get this posted tonight. I ended up painting this candy piece because I really wanted something colorful after painting the teapot. The biggest challenge painting these pieces are all the lettering on the packages. I might have to reshoot this piece because the yellow M & M looks jagged on the edge. It's not like that on the painting so I'm not sure what's going on. For my artists pick of the week, take a look at Scott Fraser and Linden Frederick's work. I was fortunate to see Linden Frederick's work at the Farnsworth Art Museum back in 2007 and it's impressive.

Hi D.
It's nice to hear from you...loved your last piece. The packaging is always the most challenging. Thanks for looking

What a fun idea... someone will have to have these M&M's for sure.

Thanks for the artists picks; Years ago I had a two-sentence tag at the end of a Scott Fraser newspaper review; still one of the big moments in my limited publicity. Was lucky enough to see a few of his pieces "live"; amazing stuff.

Hi R.
I do a candy painting every once in awhile. I really like Scott Fraser's work. That's incredible that you were mentioned in the review. If I could get to his skill level with my painting, I'd have it made.

Hi Jean,
You must have an incredible amount of patience, Jean, to do a piece like this with so much detail and lettering! It is really beautifully done. I suppose the best part of painting a subject like this is that you can paint your candy and eat it too! (Okay - so it is a lame joke! Never claimed to be funny... hehe) Have a wonderful weekend.

Looks perfect to me.
Just discovered your site through R Garriott's. I'm adding your blog to my blogroll and will be back to enjoy your work some more!
P.S. A teenage son sounds kind of like a nightmare to me. I don't know how you parental types do it! (I didn't have any kids.)

Hi Joanne,
Yes, I do have a lot of patience and Yes, I also ate the candy after I was finished. Thanks for looking Joanne. It's always good to hear from you.

I've had a wonderful time looking through your blog and website. I used to live in Old Orchard Beach, so it was nice to see those Maine land/seascapes! But I'm especially drawn to your still life pieces. Great work!
