I Finally Finished This!

"Trio", 9"x 12", Oil on Board
Thank God I finally finished this! This is probably the third painting of pears that I've painted. I guess it's my favorite fruit to paint! I'm actually happy with the results and feel that it came out better than I had anticipated. My biggest challenge with this piece was getting the values correct and capturing all of the subtleties in the shadow areas. Enjoy!

Hi Pierre,
It's good to hear from you! I really enjoyed viewing your latest piece. Yes, I suppose I did enjoy painting this one and tried to put forth some extra effort. I've also had plenty of time to paint considering that it's been raining here the majority of the summer. Take care

Wodjo,
Hey, you came back for a second look...it's good to hear from you again. I'm glad you like my trio of pears. Have you completed any new paintings? Take care!

Absolutely beautiful Jean! I like how the background color was kept close to the pairs, it gives it a sense of calm. The way you handled the shadows is great, too.

Nice one, Jean--a frozen moment, very serene.

Hi Kerri,
Thanks for taking the time to look at my work. I felt that way about the background also.

Beautiful. Pears are representative, to me, of a woman's form.

Hi Mary,
It's good to hear from you. That's any interesting perspective...never thought of it that way. Thanks for taking a peek!

Nice Jean! I especially like the subtle contrast of the yellows of the pears against the yellow backdrop!!

I love your work. I found you via Jeff Hayes. The shadows on the pears are so interesting, growing as you look from left to right. Really nice painting.

Jean - I love how you have set off the pears with that subtle tone of the yellow background. And you are right - you nailed the subtle shifts in color and the shadows! I LOVE it!
Have a great weekend!

Hi Diane,
Thanks for taking a look. Yes, I wanted to try something different with my background for this piece but was worried the colors would be too similar. I'm glad it worked out! It's good to hear from you! Take care!

Hi Joanne,
It's good to hear from you! I didn't turn on my computer yesterday at all because I was busy having a garage sale. I was surprised this morning to find some additional comments on my painting. It looks like you've been quite busy this summer with new paintings etc... I was quite happy with this piece so I'm glad you like it. Take care and thanks for making time for me.
