"Sunlit Cherries", 4 1/2" x 6", Oil on Board
I actually finished this piece yesterday. Probably my biggest challenge with this piece were the reflections on the bottom of the cherries. I had to do a lot of transparent glazes to get them just right. Some of the reflections had an almost graphic quality to them but that's really how they appeared. I think the arrangement of the cherries works and for some reason I was worried about it because I used four of them. For the most part, I'm happy with the piece!

Right back at you, beautiful deep and saturated colors, true-to-life!
Alvin,
It's so good to hear from you! Thanks, but let's face...I'm certainly not up to your level of painting yet. Maybe I will be someday though. Take care!
Your paintings are amazing Jean..
What a treat to see and feel...
Hi Gerald,
Thanks for taking the time to take a look! I appreciate the compliment and enjoy your work as well.
Lovely, Jean. A clean, contemporary feel and effective design.
Hi Don,
Thanks, for taking the time to look! It's always good to hear from you.
I only attempted cherries once or twice but realized just how difficult the subject was after that, and I remember being frustrated by the shadows. That being said, you took a difficult subject and really nailed it, and your shadows are wonderful. Great painting!
Hi Kerri,
I'd have to agree with you. They look quite easy but the reflections and shadows can be tough. Thanks for taking the time to look.
very nice Jean. Love your crisp down to the nitty grittiness[is that a word?]of your work
Hi Gary,
Thanks, I appreciate it! Have you been working on any new landscapes?
Take care!
Your work is beautiful! I am so happy to have found your blog!
Hi Trish,
Thanks for the compliment! I really appreciate you taking the time to look at my work. Take care!
Gorgeous cherries! I've not tried to paint just cherries yet. Yours look as if one could eat them right off the canvas. Amazing!
A simple/complex elegant piece!
Good work Jean- I enjoy the modern and subtle variations of the composition.
Hi Sheryl,
I really enjoy your work also and have kind of dabbled with making paperclay whimsies and primitives also. Keep in touch!
Thanks for stopping by my blog Jean. I would love to see your primitives sometime. I should work on my fine art more and plan on doing that once I get a deadline met on the Santas. You've inspired me to get going on that. Thanks!
Sheryl
Hi Pierre,
I haven't heard from you in awhile...you must be busy doing a lot of new paintings. I can't wait to see them! It's always good to hear from you! Take care and thanks for taking the time to look at my work.
Hi Jean!
Well, you have certainly not lost your "touch" at all... these cherries are beautiful, and so full of interesting detail and COLOR! I am sure this painting will be snapped up very quickly. Just gorgeous!
Hi Joanne,
It's good to hear from you. Thanks for taking the time to look at my cherries. What have you been busy painting? I'll have to take a look to see if you've posted anything new.
Well done. My experience with even numbers of similar objects is that it's difficult (for me) to keep them from becoming to static in composition. This is really nice. The stems provide a nice little path through the painting. Thanks for posting them!

Hi John,
Thanks for taking the time to look at my work and comment. I actually felt the placement of the cherry stems were vital to the piece, otherwise, it probably wouldn't have worked with the even number of objects. Take care!
Lovely.
Hi Mary,
Thanks for taking a look, I appreciate it!
Amazing job with the cherries, Jean, you really got the very reflective quality of the cherries - beautiful!
Hi Edward,
Thanks for taking the time to look at my work. I enjoyed yours as well.
