Old Playthings!

"Blocks and Marble", 6"x8", Oil on Linen
I finished this piece yesterday but I've been having a difficult time getting a good shot of the painting to post. I often wonder if other artists struggle as much as I do photographing art work. At any rate, I'm not happy with this piece but thought I would post it just the same. I've also been busy working on some pastels lately which I'm not sure if I'll post on here or not. I guess it will depend on how they come out.

Yes taking pictures of your work is one of the most challenging things that I face. Scanning makes it easier on the smaller pieces.

Hi Erika,
Thanks for taking the time to respond. Maybe I'll try scanning!

Interesthing piece with its soft palette and graphical outcome.
You are right ,taking good pictures of paintings is a science.

Hi, I have trouble photographing paintings too but I have the best luck without flash, using a tri-pod, outside on a gray day and with a white piece of paper behond the work. Does that help at all? You've probably tried all these techniques too!

Some of my art photos are not the best but I keep trying! Good luck!
