Just Finished My Martini

"Martini", 5"x7", Oil on Board
I just finished painting this earlier today and had to battle the wind to get a picture of it. I'm not happy with how the painting turned out but I post my failures on here as well. I've also been busy working on some landscapes, but I haven't decided if I'll post those on here on not. At the Art2010 at the Harlow Gallery, I got an honorable mention for one of my pieces. That show ends on the 30th of this month in Hallowell, Maine.

This is great - you should be proud of it! It caught my eye as I was reading your blog. The shadow on the wall is inspired and you've captured the shape of the olives, slightly distorted by the glass, perfectly.

Having said that, disatisfaction drives up forward as we push to improve things we're not happy with. Your latest teapot is indeed super :)

Hi Caroline,
Thanks so much for taking the time to look at my work and comment! I wasn't happy with this piece...I guess I was out of my comfort zone you might say. Again, thanks for looking at my work!

I love this. You are too harsh a critic. It's good to get out of your comfort zone. Necessary, even.
Congrats on your award.
I've missed being over here.

I agree with Caroline and Mary. You need to cut back on the martinis, Jean, it's awesome. (:
I think it's especially awesome because of the many warm neutrals, and then there's those brilliant popping olives, lovely.
