I'm Happy With This One!

"Vintage Syrup Pitcher", 5"x7", Oil on Board
Yes, I finally finished this! Obviously this painting took way too long for its size; however, I took my time on it and I've ended up with a piece that I'm happy with. I picked this piece because of the challenge of painting glass again and because I loved the lighting. I'm also adding this piece to my series of "vintage" paintings. My palette for this painting consisted of: Cadmium Red, Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Raw Umber, Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Yellow Light and Titanium White (Gamblin). Please let me know what you think!

Hi Todd,
Thanks! I'm quite happy with this one. I wish I could have captured the colors better but there is only so much you can do with a digital camera.

Hi Jean!
How wonderful to see you back again... I worry about you when you are absent too long. :-)
This piece is wonderful - almost as though I could pick it up right off the page! The treatment of the metal is very nice.
Are you relaxing after completing this one, enjoying the satisfaction of a job well done, or are you on to something new right away?
Have a relaxing summer, Jean. Remember to smell the flowers as well as paint them!

The lighting effect is really well done. The first step with painting glass or metal has to do with the ability to properly see it....you have proven this theory.

Hi Joanne,
It's great to hear from you again. I've been busy painting but I haven't been happy with the results and end up throwing them in the trash can. I don't know what my problem is. I'm so glad to hear from you though.

Hi Alvin,
Thanks for your continued support, it means a lot to me. Yes, painting glass and metal is certainly tough but I like the challenge. Have you been busy painting or are you enjoying your summer?

Hi Jean,
You've guessed right! I've been slacking off a bit, but I will post a new painting today or tomorrow. Once the snow melted, I got on my bike and have been pedaling away. In June I did a 662 km trek in 5 days on PEI. With all of that pedaling, a chronic pain in my L hamstring just went away, so I started to run again and did a 10 km road race in Halifax. Sports is really my first love. Hoping you are well.....I will try to paint more in the comng weeks. After reading this you can delete it if you wish. Just keeping in touch.
Cheers,
Alvin
